Are you unhappy with the unwanted fat that has accumulated in the stomach area? Do you feel as though liposuction would leave you with significant skin sagging? If you are within your ideal weight range and want to touch up the abdominal area with cosmetic surgery, Anna Raurell may recommend an abdominoplasty.
Abdominoplasty, commonly known as a “tummy tuck,” is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the abdomen by removing excess skin and fat and tightening the abdominal muscles. This surgery is often chosen by individuals who have experienced significant weight loss, pregnancy, or aging, and have excess skin and weakened abdominal muscles that do not respond well to diet and exercise.
What happens during an abdominoplasty?
The abdominoplasty procedure, more commonly known as a tummy tuck, usually starts with liposuction of unwanted fat. The fat is removed through a tube called a cannula that is inserted into the skin and moved around to suction fat cells out into a canister connected to the device. Then, Anna assesses the amount of excess skin leftover. By making an incision along the midsection just above the pubic area, Anna can then remove skin that may be left behind following the liposuction procedure. The skin is eliminated to complete the surgery.
Does an abdominoplasty procedure act as a weight loss solution?
Some patients will have a significant amount of fat cells removed from their body during a tummy tuck. However, this does not make it a recommended weight loss procedure. In fact, Anna will also consult with patients initially to determine if they are a good candidate. Most adults who are within their ideal weight range and want to tighten up the stomach area are better suited for these procedures.
Anna can provide a selection of procedures that can help in addressing body contours that cannot be achieved with traditional diet and exercise. We encourage patients to take the time to learn about these recommended procedures following your consultation which can be booked here.
